We are proud that our founder, Lionel Jackson, remains within our management structure and is our Consultant.
Lionel has been involved with “troubled young people” since 1963; a teacher who has taught in Secondary Schools, Borstal, Prison and Approved Schools.

Previous Experiences include:

1. Successfully acted as an adviser in the production of two films (BBC and ITV) concerned with the training and rehabilitation of young offenders.
2. Established a successful pupil exchange with Gordonstoun and Norton School (residential School for Offenders)
3. Prior to founding SafeCare Services he was Head of the Secure facilities at Red Bank in Merseyside for ten years and with the support of dedicated staff, a totally new approach to treatment and training in a secure setting was established. Sadly the standards set some twenty years ago remain unsurpassed.

Highlights include:

1. Work experience in the local area, external college courses, gardening projects, walks and camping, cycling (3 End to End ventures), road running (one relay End to End), introduced boxing, judo and music into the rich curriculum ,the unit band made several public performances plus a recording.

Lionel Jackson must be the only Head to have attended a “Boxing Dinner” where a member of his Staff together with a pupil (from the Secure Unit) were boxing- both winning their bouts.

These experiences went into “the mix” for the creation of SafeCare and with the addition of the essential ingredient of – DEDICATED STAFF – we have…
